| After
a 5 year break from the electronics and software industry, I became
re-invigorated by hobby robotics. I have always liked things like R/C
airplanes and gadgets that move or do something, so applying
inexpensive, high performance micro-controllers to make
"smart" gadgets seemed like a natural direction to take.
This is my first robot platform for trying out ideas and developing AvrX. It is called RoboMon. Robotics Development Platform (robomon) Early spring 1999, I decided to focus my experiments on a mini-sumo robot. The basic goal is to push other robots off of a small circular playing field. Cherry Blossom, Mini-sumo Robot Late spring 1999, I turned my attention to building a fire fighting robot. This is a work in progress. Summer 2000 I rebuild Dilbert with a proto circuit board and some precision gear head motors. Winter & Spring of 2002 I worked on a robot control board based upon the AVR chip and used primarily for a high school mini-sumo project. My first robot using that board is a balancing robot. The goal is to forever eliminate the caster on robotic bases. |
