The AVR robot controller (ARC 1.1) was designed as the base controller for a high school Mini-Sumo robot project. The controller is built around the powerful Atmel ATMEGA16 processor with 16kb of memory running at 8 MHz for an 8 mip processing speed (contrast this with a 20 MHz PIC which has a 3-4 mip equivalent speed or an 8mhz HC11 with about 1/2 mip equivalent speed). A 16 MHz crystal is included to allow doubling of the CPU speed. Pin compatible upgrades are available that double the memory. Your can no longer purchase this board. The Seattle Robotics Society sells this board as part of their Workshop Robot kit ARC 1.1 specifications are:
The board can be programmed with a variety of free or inexpensive tools. Downloads
