I have devoted time over the last six years to hobby robotics and programming of the Atmel AVR® series of micro controllers. It was a return to my roots as a designer of embedded processors for industrial, medical and communications industries.   As a result of my work I have developed a small real time operating system (RTOS) that I call AvrX, short for AVR Executive. AvrX has undergone three major revisions over the years.  The latest is tuned to work with the GNU and IAR C compilers. I use AvrX as the foundation for all my non-trivial AVR projects.  There is a yahoo mailing list for AvrX users: www.yahoogroups.com/group/avrx.

My hobby robotics activities has expanded into various contract jobs and related product developments.  I designed and wrote the s/w for the various Open Source Motor Control group (www.yahoogroups.com\group\OSMC) controllers (MOB, uRRC and uRRC 2.0) and the heart of these controllers lives on in www.robot-solutions.com products.  I also sell direct, and through resellers, a selection of small motor controllers and robot development boards.

18-Sept-2005

bulletNew release of AvrX 2.6f
bulletRats, it was unpopular to discontinue the ARC 1.1. kits.  I'll have them back soon with the mega32 and a boot loader pre-installed.

06-Sept-2005

bulletDiscontinued the ARC 1.1 kits.  I still have PCBs available and will do bulk kits on request.
bulletReduced ANT dual 5A R/C motor controllers by $5 across the product line due to reduced costs through volume purchases.

06-May-2005

bulletAdded paper on generating large numbers of R/C pulse outputs using very simple code & a decade counter (74HC164).  AVR RC Output.pdf (360k)
bulletDiscontinued the uRRC 2.0 Robot Controller.  Design files are available for non-commercial use, or for commercial use with a license agreement.

20-Jan-2005

bulletCheck out my FIRST robotics activities.
bulletwww.SeattleRobotics.org has added a robot kit + lesson material based upon the ARC board.  Because many SRS movers & shakers are busy with their own FIRST teams, this project will be in suspended animation until March or so.  But do check back!
bullet motor/wheel combo is no longer available (sold them all to SRS for their robot!)

24-Mar-2004

bulletRemoved uRRC 1.0 from the price list.  I no longer stock boards or CPUs.
bulletAdded a small motor/wheel combo to the Avr Robot Control section.
bulletAdded updated LEGO interface code and text for the April 2004 Servo Magazine Article.

30-Nov-2003

bulletAdded a small experimental project to interface standard LEGO sensors (light, rotation and touch) to an AVR processor.

 14-July-2003

bulletAdded the ANT150 controller.  Exactly the same form factor and general specifications as the ANT100, but with the addition of a variable output 15A switch for simple weapon control.

02-June-2003

bulletANT controllers are now available again.  The newest controller, ANT100, is a simple, inexpensive, 2x5A controller for ant weight combat robotics.  ANT100 controllers also work well in any application that needs to control small dc motors with R/C style signaling (i.e. Basic stamp or other type controllers).
